My list of services is vast and encompasses different goals, needs and interests for every individual. Please realize that no matter the exercise, the revolutionary piece of equipment or fancy DVD, the most important piece of information that no one can sell you is TO DO SOMETHING, TO MOVE, TO SWEAT, TO SHOW UP EVERY WEEK AT YOUR APPOINTMENTS, CLASSES or WORKOUTS. I will provide you with a program specific to your goals, needs, limitations, interests, etc. This list is done alphabetically, so please do not feel like I place importance on one type of training over another.
Athletic
No matter the sport one's God given abilities will only take them so far. We will work on strength, speed, explosiveness, endurance, flexibility, proper eating before and after training/competition. The drills will be sport specific, training the athlete to react with the same equipment or on the same surface he or she would compete with
or on. Remember that athletic training applies to a lot more than competetive athletes. I work with many adults on their golf, tennis, racquetball, running, swimming, track & field, etc. Having an active hobby makes getting exercise every week a lot easier.
Older Adult
Working with older adults is one of my true passions. I have been teaching the AFAP (Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program), PACE (People with Arthritis can Exercise) and worked/volunteered with the Arthritis Foundation and American Heart Association for years now. Maintaining your bone strength, muscular strength and flexibility are more important than I could ever stress! We are about to come into the largest older adult population the world has ever seen. Depending on your ability level, there is much we can do (in or out of the water) to maintain the quality of life you have always lived.
Children
The future of our country spends more time in front of the TV than they do learning, exercising or enjoying family and friends. We will cover the basics of proper nutrition, hydration and the importance of physical activity every day. The workouts are geared specifically to the child or children; their interests, hobbies, ability levels, etc. I try to make the workouts as fun as possible, with a lot of variety. I enjoy working with children, have coached many athletic teams and want to see our kids enjoying the outdoors!
Special Needs
Trust me when I say that everyone has special needs, but some need a little more physical attention in order to meet their exercise or rehabilitation needs. I have been fortunate enough to work with many different individuals suffering from a wide variety of injuries, disabilities, disorders and conditions. The work I have done has been done in and out out of the water with much success. It is important to maintain a strength, flexibility and cardiovascular program focused on meeting your individual needs. With weekly exercise your quality of life can be much improved.
Strength Training
This area covers a lot of ground and can apply to many different people with very different goals in mind. My main focus is to ensure you maintain proper form throughout any exercise. We can minimize any and all joint pain, increase flexibility and will take into account prior injury or medical conditions. Having strength provides us all (from the high school athlete who needs the strength to get position on an opponent to an older adult who needs the strength to move from a wheel chair to the bed) with a better quality of life, and less chance for injury.
Weight Loss
A combination of nutritional planning and a weekly exercise routine are key to weight loss. Weight loss takes place over time, and we will cover all aspects on what your realistic goals should be over time. Weight loss is achievable, for most everyone, if you are willing to commit yourself to it. I do not believe in miracle diets, and none of those people on the biggest loser lost all of that weight by starving themselves. It takes time, especially when dealing with work, kids, the spouse - you know, LIFE!
